Hi, I’m Dr. Deirdre—Anatomy Geek & Problem Solver
I’m good at untangling the collision of emotional stress, physical pain and digestive disorders—often where there is one, there is another. I connect deeply in order to get to the root of the problem.
People usually come to me when they have tried everything else. I enjoy these medical mysteries. I have spent a considerable time studying both western and eastern anatomy. It is one thing to know the points and the chakras—it is another to be able to listen to them; knowing not only when to tap into them and but also how to.
One of my gifts is the ability to treat Temporal Mandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMD) using a combination of intra-oral craniosacral therapy and classical acupuncture. The results are profound and long-lasting.

Why choose to work with me?
You’re a busy person, and sometimes your own self-care falls off the schedule. I’m passionate about helping people get out of pain—whether that is physical, spiritual or emotional pain. I usually start by optimizing sleep and digestion. When one of these pieces falls out of whack, the rest of them do.
Maybe you’ve tried acupuncture or bodywork for your issues before, and have not yet gotten relief. Working with me will be different because Classical Acupuncture utilizes a more comprehensive channel system than commonly-practiced TCM or Five Element acupuncture.
The richness of the Classical Acupuncture channel systems and their theories allows me to treat your unresolved conditions from the past —whether emotional or physical—to figure out how it is connected to the conditions you have. My acupuncture training allows me to treat a wide range of conditions within several layers of energy.

My Story
In my early 20s, I enrolled in a 1,000 hour massage program in order to find my own way out of pain. I’d always been told that I had a natural gift with my hands—and I had developed a terrible pain in my back during a very difficult and stressful time of my life. In school I received bodywork everyday, but my pain continued. I just couldn't believe it! I was convinced that deep tissue massage would be the solution to my pain. But even with daily massage, I could not find relief.
Then I had a massage that changed my life—my official introduction into the power of Chinese medicine. I had a shiatsu session from one of my teachers—shiatsu is a Japanese style of bodywork that is traditionally done on the floor, with clothing on. Shiatsu is a form of acupressure on the acupuncture points—shiatsu means “finger pressure;” instead of using needles to manipulate the energy, a shiatsu practitioner uses their fingers.
After this one session the pain vanished—it was just gone. The gripping agony that clenched from my shoulder up to my neck just went away. She barely touched the spot where I had pain! This single shiatsu session changed the entire course of my life. After that, I was forever fascinated with Chinese medicine, and I still cannot stop learning about it!!
Grief is connected to the lungs in Chinese medicine. My lungs were exhausted—I had been grieving, and the grief was depleting me. The pain in my upper back was EXACTLY on an acupuncture point that affects the lungs, and can be used to treat lung conditions—it was complete depleted.
The reason deep tissue massage did not help me was because I had an energetic insufficiency in that area—aggressive massage does not address this and will not resolve such a problem.
This shiatsu session redistributed the overall energy and qi flow of my body—redirecting energy to fill that point back up with qi. No amount of deep tissue massage was going to touch this pain, because the root cause of the problem was not being addressed. During this treatment, my lungs were strengthened and not only did my pain go away, but my grief felt much lighter.
This experience was a complete revelation and one of the most profound learning experiences I have ever had!
